This Mercedes-Benz OEM Sportline getrag gear-shifter knob with 5 speed shift pattern was used in the W124/W201 Sportline models.
During the 1990s, Mercedes-Benz introduced their Sportline package for the W124/W201 range. This option was available in North America for the 1992/1993 W124 300E and 300CE, and from 1993 to 1995, it was available for the E320 and E320 Coupe. From 1992 to 1993, the package was available for the W201 2.6 model. In the EU, the SportLine package was available for all W124 body styles, and several engine options were available for the W201.
The Sportline package included style modifications but was mostly focused on the driving experience. It featured a range of mechanical upgrades. Special badges bearing the “Sportline” designation adorned the fender panel. At the heart of this performance-oriented package sat a small yet iconic detail, the gear-shifter knob. Crafted with precision and elegance, it proudly displayed the emblem of sport luxury.

It often appears that the EU had all the best packages. However, a surprise awaited North America when Mercedes-Benz unveiled its first-ever Limited Edition models to commemorate the end of the W201 production era. Two models were presented, with a total of 700 units for each. The initial model introduced was the 190E 2.3 Limited Edition, accompanied by the 190E 2.6 Sportline Limited Edition.
